PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION AND THE ECONOMIC OUTLOOK OF INDONESIA |

INTRODUCTION - This is not an assessment of the presidential candidates’ economic platforms, since I don’t know much about them nor their existence, aside from what have been reported in the media. This is also not an analysis about the outlook of Indonesia’s economy with the new government from the winners of the upcoming Presidential election
- I will instead, share with you my assessments on the election and its implication on policy decision, followed by a discussion on candidates’ economic policy statements with a view to the current and outlook of economic issues and problems confronting Indonesia. These ultimately constitute the challenges that the president - elect coming out from the upcoming election(s) and the cabinet he or she leads have to address, after assuming the office.
