- My assessments on the elections and their economic implications are mostly speculative in nature. They are based on my readings of documents or reports, as Prof Sadli’s writings, and news on the elections. At this juncture many things are still not clear and political development has been very dynamic, in particular the manoeuvrings by political parties to form coalition with strong candidates for president and vice president in the July 5 election.
- The economic implications of the elections would even be more difficult to read. However, the views of some candidates or parties, which have been floating around could provide us with some clues as to what types of economic policy of the new government would take facing the problems and issues as people would expect the new government to deal with. Fore sure, this is even more speculative.
